My name is Javier Saumell (Javi), and I am a first-year Master of Architecture student at the University of Florida, with an anticipated graduation in May 2027. I am actively working toward architectural licensure and hold both LEED BD+C and WELL certifications. I am deeply passionate about design and placemaking, and I believe thoughtfully designed environments have the power to shape meaningful, life-impacting experiences.
I have 2 years of experience working as an architectural designer at PGAV Destinations. In this role was responsible for leading teams of designers and consultants, managing large-scale project coordination, and ensuring deliverables met client expectations through consistent quality control and adherence to schedules.
My academic background blends creative design thinking with a strong understanding of operations. I completed a minor in Hospitality Management and have over 6 years of hospitality experience. This experience was important in shaping my approach to design, teaching me the importance of creating efficient, functional environments that support both guest experience and employee operations.
When not in school or working, I have a passion for creativity and the world we live in! Typically, you’ll find me taking dance classes, pursuing photography, or traveling the globe!
